How do I pair the X5i?

Turn the X5i on by pressing the power button for 1.5 seconds, the X5i will announce “Bluetooth” and the screen will show "BLUE" to show the X5i is in pairing mode. On your phone or source device search for and select the BlueAnt X5i.

How long is the play time on the X5i?

  • The X5 has a play time of around 30 hours at 50% volume.
  • When used at 100% volume the play time is 6-7 hours.
  • To use the X5i at 100% volume for long periods, please use the power cable.
  • Battery life will vary based on type of music, level of bass and environmental factors.
  • 4 lights - Battery fully charged.

How long does it take to charge the X5i?

The X5i takes about 4 hrs to charge using the supplied power cable.

What do the 4 lights on the top of the X5i mean?

These show the battery level remaining in the X5i, 25% charge per light..

How do I use the built-in Powerbank on my X5i?

Simply plug USB your cable into the powerbank port on the top of your X5i, then plug the other end into your phone.

The X5i provides a 5V1A output.

How do I change the volume on the X5i?

Turn the volume dial on the top of the X5i clockwise to increase volume and anti-clockwise to reduce volume..

Every time you power on the X5i the volume defaults back to 25%.

How do I skip tracks on the X5i?

Click the skip forward button to skip forward a track.

Click the skip backward button to skip backward a track.

What is the Bass Boost Button on the X5i?

Increase the intensity of the Bass with the Bass Boost Button.
Simply press it to feel the bass.
Press the button again to return to Standard EQ.

The X5i remembers the last setting the next time it powers on.

How do I control the LEDs on the X5i?

Simply press the LED button to switch between light modes or to toggle the LED off. The X5i remembers the last LED mode the next time it powers on.

How many devices can the X5i connect to at the same time?

The X5i connects to one source device at a time.


How do I disconnect my X5i to change source device?

Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds and the X5i will announce “disconnected”, then you can connect your other device.

How do I reset the X5i?

  • With the X5i speaker on please press and hold the Mode button (M) for 5 seconds.
  • The display with show FACT and the X5i will power off.
  • All paired devices will be removed.
  • You can now press and hold the power button for 1.5 seconds to power it back on and pair to it.

How do I use the X5i with an AUX cable?

  • Please ensure you have plugged in the AUX cable.
  • Press the Mode button (M) on the X5i to switch to AUX mode, the screen will display "LINE".
  • When using AUX mode the X5i can only control the speaker volume and not the source volume or tracks.
  • When you unplug the AUX cable the X5i will default back to Bluetooth mode.

How do I use the X5i with an USB disk?

  • Put your music onto your USB disk and then insert the USB disk into the X5i’s USB slot. The screen will display "USB".
  • The X5i supports FAT 32 format and the music files can be MP3, WAV, APE or FLAC.
  • USB disks upto 32GB are supported.
  • To change to USB disk mode please press the Mode button (M).
  • The X5i will remember which track was played last and start from there.
  • When you unplug the USB disk the X5i will default back to Bluetooth mode.

How do I change back to Bluetooth mode on the X5i?

To change back to Bluetooth mode simply press the Mode button (M). The display will show the word "BLUE".

How do I use the wireless microphones with the X5i?

With the X5i powered on simply press and hold the power button on each microphone for 3 seconds and they will power on and connect to the X5i.

How do I change the microphone volume on the X5i?

The two wireless microphones have built-in volume controls.

Press + to increase the volume slowly, or hold + to increase the volume quickly.
Press - to decrease the volume slowly, or hold - to decrease the volume quickly.

Each time the microphones power on the microphone volume defaults to 25%, volume 4 of 16.

The microphone level is shown on the display when the volume is changed. Microphone 1 will show as 1 00- 1 16.
Microphone 2 will show as 2 00 - 2 16.

Please avoid placing the microphones into the microphone holders when the volume is turned up to a high level so as to avoid feedback.

How to change the echo on the microphones on the X5i?

The + and -0 for Echo control the level of reverb on the microphones.
By default the echo level is 25%, levle 4 of 16.

When the echo level is adjusted this is shown on the display

E 00-16.

What is the range of the wireless microphones from the X5i

The wireless microphones should have a range of around 20 metres from the X5i, this will depend on interference and obstacles.

What is Duo Mode?

DUO mode allows you to connect two X5i speakers together for a wide stereo soundstage.

DUO mode only works when using Bluetooth as the source of the music.

How do I pair the X5i in DUO mode?

To connect two X5i together please follow these instructions:

  • Power on the first speaker.
  • Press and hold the DUO mode button for 4 seconds. The speaker will announce "Duo mode pairing" and the screen will flash "DUO".
  • Power on the second speaker.
  • Press and hold the DUO mode button for 4 seconds. The speaker will announce "Duo mode pairing" and the screen will flash "DUO".
  • Please wait until one speaker says "DUO mode connected".
  • This may take up to one minute. The speakers are now connected to each other.
  • The speaker that says "DUO mode connected" is the master speaker, this is the speaker you should pair with your phone.
  • The word "DUO" will stay solid on the display of the secondary speaker.
  • If your phone is already connected to the primary speaker the display will show the word "BLUE" solidly.
  • Iif your phone is not yet connected the display of the primary speaker will flash the word "BLUE", you should pair your phone to this speaker.

When in DUO mode:

  • The speaker volume and Bass boost are synchronized between the speakers
  • Either speaker can be used to control the music or LEDs.
  • Microphone volume controls are on the microphones themselves.
  • Each speaker can have upto 2 wireless microphones connected.
  • When you power off one speaker both speakers will power off.
  • When powering speakers on, they power on independently.

How do I disconnect the X5i in DUO mode?

  • To disconnect two X5i in DUO mode press and hold the DUO mode button on one of the speakers for 4 seconds.
  • The speaker will announce "DUO mode disconnected".
  • The speakers will reconnect the next time they are both powered on.
  • To stop the speakers from reconnecting please use the DUO mode clearing procedure below.

How do I clear DUO mode on the X5i?

  • To clear DUO mode on the X5i please press and hold DUO mode button on one of the speakers for 8 seconds.
  • The speaker will announce "DUO mode cleared".
  • The speakers will not reconnect the next time they are both powered on and will need to have paired again with the DUO mode pairing process.

How do I get even more bass from the X5i?

If maximum bass is your thing, try these tips to speaker placement indoors.

  • When the X5i speaker is placed on the floor (assuming no walls close by), the floor reinforces the bass (+6dB)
  • When the X5i speaker is sitting on the floor near a wall, the floor and wall reinforces the bass (+12dB)
  • Putting the X5i in a corner give maximum bass reinforcement (+18dB)
  • Pair two X5i speakers together and place them in the corners of a room for out of this world bass.

  • To use the X5i via Bluetooth with your computer or laptop your computer must support A2DP for music playback.
  • To check what is supported on your computer please check with your computer or laptop manufacturer.
  • When using your X5i via AUX cable only playback is supported.
  • Control of the music is done on your computer.
  • Volume on the speaker only controls the speaker and not the source volume.
